Lily G

Meet Lily! She’s super bubbly, easygoing, and always has a big smile on her face. She’s a firm believer that there’s always room for fun and a little bit of silliness. A true people-person, Lily loves connecting with others, listening to their stories, laughing (sometimes a bit too much at their jokes!), and getting outside to try new things.

Lily recently made the move to Adelaide from the Top End, where she discovered her passion for working in disability support. While in Darwin, she worked at a special education school and a training café/op shop supporting young people with disabilities. She’s currently studying Occupational Therapy, inspired by the joy she finds in helping people thrive.

How has being a support worker shaped the way you see the world?

I’ve learned the value of patience, bringing joy into everyday moments, and embracing people for who they are-including myself. Some of the most authentic and accepting people I’ve met are those I’ve supported. Navigating this world can be tough for everyone and while everyone needs are different, at the core, we all want people to rely on to feel cared for and listened to.

How do you build trust with the people you support?

By always being present! I listen closely, show kindness, and meet people where they’re at. I try to make them feel heard and understood, and bring patience and honesty to every interaction. It’s about being in it together and showing them I’m here to motivate them in smashing their goals!

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

My number one love is music after working in a record shop for three years and everything follows after that! I love anything creative and getting outdoors!
